Seed Publishing & Quadex Exhibitions appoint Catalyst

Catalyst is delighted to announce that it will be handling all Traditional and Digital PR for the Seed Publishing & Quadex Exhibitions brands; Olympia Beauty 2014, The Nailympics London & The Scratch Stars Awards. They are not to be missed!

Amazing Look Magazine Coverage for our Client All That Jazz

Here at Catalyst HQ we have had an amazing run of coverage for our clients lately, covering a wide range of consumer and trade publications. So naturally, we wanted to show off some of our hard work…

This piece of coverage,  arranged by our lovely account handler Rosie,  is for our client Jazz Smedley, who at 17 years old, has gone on to launch her own business and has a number of A-lister clients tucked snugly under her belt.  Jazz has had the pleasure of painting the nails of celebs such as Little Mix, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne and Amy Childs and she isn’t planning on stopping any time soon.
Jazz has grown up in the industry with her mum and dad, Georgie and Jason, being the managing directors of Nail Harmony UK. Having this as inspiration she quickly followed in her mother’s footsteps and started out painting nails professionally at just 13 years old. It’s always great to see the coverage you have arranged for one of your clients on your desk, it creates a sort of buzz which makes you realise that all the hard work is worth it.

So imagine our buzz when this double page spread in Look Magazine came through the post. Of course, with all the big pieces of PR we work on with our clients, it’s important not to forget the little pieces of coverage which are just as important but seeing something that has taken time to think out and prepare is great. Rosie started by writing a profile piece for Jazz and then worked very strongly with a freelance journalist to arrange an interview which is when Look magazine picked up the story and chose to run it as a feature. We are always in contact with journalists and subscribe to as many consumer and trade publications as possible to keep up to date on any upcoming features that could work for our clients. Wizard advice at the bca business seminar 2013



One of Catalyst’s clients, the bca (beauty companies association), held a business seminar Thursday 7th November, at the historic Magic Circle, Euston, London.

The event concentrated upon maximising business success in the beauty industry and featured presentations by high profile business entrepreneurs who shared their pathways to achievement with the packed audience who were keen to expand their knowledge, particularly on the rapidly changing CRM and new media landscapes.

Commencing with an address from the bca Chair, Dean Nathanson, he welcomed the attendees and introduce the first speaker, The BBC Apprentice winner 2011, inventor and Alan Sugar’s business partner, Tom Pellereau.

Inventor of the hugely successful S nail file, Tom concentrated in particular, on his approach to developing a business prior to his success on The Apprentice – his top tip, if you have a strong vision, do all the ground work yourself – it saves money and you do not compromise that vision. He then explained how he successfully took his product to the market, and outlined how he used social media, twitter in particular to harness User Generated Content to create stories conversations and recommendations for his product a subject of considerable interest to the audience.

Tom was followed by the founder and CEO Wahanda, the largest online health, beauty and wellness marketplace, Lopo Champalimaud. With over 250,000 businesses on line, and 1,500,000 site visitors every month, he explained how Wahanda have well and truly harnessed the power of on line marketing, communications and interactions and how Wahanda is maintaining its premiere position in the marketplace.

Jon Hardwick, vice chair of the bca then addressed the packed room before introducing the keynote speaker, Aaron Chatterley, Co-founder and CEO Of feelunique.com, Europe’s largest online premium beauty retailer and the current holder of the Institute of Directors Large Organisation Director of the Year title.

Aaron’s main theme was how he grew his online hair and beauty shop feelunique.com into one of the biggest in the UK today, and what he learnt on the way up and pitfalls to avoid.

After a packed morning, delegates had a chance, over lunch, to network with other senior members of the Beauty Industry and meet up with surprise guest and current holder of the Apprentice title, Dr Leah Totton who took part in raising funds for Helping Hands, the bca’s nominated charity, who also benefited from a prize raffle and from ticket sale to the event, raising over £500.

Catalyst launch NEW Chelsea Beautique Video

Catalyst have recently created a video tutorial for the luxury lash brand Chealsea Beautique – they worked with top celebrity make-up artist Elizabeth Rita who gave step by step instructions on how to apply lashes, create the iconic Chelsea brows and how to use contact lenses.

The director of the video worked closely with Catalyst on what branding message should appear in each video, as well as the styling of the model and the studio requirements. It was very important for Catalyst to help maintain consistency throughout filming and to make the brand awareness clear to the viewers. Arranging the right model for the shoot was also vital for filming, this included the styling, hair and make-up. It all had to be carefully planned and filmed keeping everything relevant to the brand ethos.
