On Tuesday 3rd November 2015 Christina, Abbie, Emma, Sophia and Johnny from the Catalyst team attended the BCA’s businessseminar:“How We AchievedOur Success” at The Wellcome Collection in London.Throughout the last few months, the Catalyst team have worked hard to ensure that the BCA gained exposure and the event had an amazing turn out.
The seminar featured intriguing presentations from business women, Lady Michelle Mone,Thea Green and TV host Jacquie Beltrao. This inspirational all female line up shared the secretsof their success and how they got to the top, showing their audience what belief,determination and an entrepreneurial spirit can achieve!
In the morning, the attendees heard from Thea Green, founder of Nails inc,the UK’s largest nail bar chain, with 60 locations and over 400 staff. Serving on average 10,000 customers per week,it’s no surprise that the company’s turn over in 2012 was £22 million.Thea has received numerous awards and accolades including Entrepreneur of the year award,and Entrepreneurial Woman of the Future award. In 2011 Thea was awarded an MBE.
Sports Presenter on Sky News, Jacquie Beltrao was the second of the speakers at the event and is a true reflection of how determination and belief can shape your life. As a former Olympic gymnast, Jacquie is no stranger to dedication however in 2014 she had to turn her dedication to a more serious matter, battling cancer. Jacquie revealed how her determination made her prevail and beat cancer!
In the afternoon, guests were treated to a truly inspirational and thought-provoking presentation by Lady Michelle Mone, founder of the Ultimo Lingerie brand.A company she set up with just a £5000 loan, Michelle divulged on how she managed to turn this small start-up company into a business empire worth an estimated £20m. Michelle has received numerous awards and accolades including the World Young Business Achiever Award and Business Woman of the Year Award.In 2010 Michelle was awarded an OBE and sits on the board of Prince Charles Scottish Youth Business Trust. Following on from these achievements Lady Mone was awarded life peerage and was also appointed a government Business Tsar.
In addition to the inspirational line up of speakers,a networking lunch where members of the beauty industry could come together and exchange ideas.There was also a charity raffle with prizes kindly donated from Scratch Magazine, Professional Beauty,Guild News,Louella Belle,The Carlton Group, Original Additions and Grafton International. The charity raffle raised an amazing £760 raised for Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity who were also present at the seminar!
This event was enlightening and educating and brought some of the UK’s most successful business women and influential brands in the beauty industry together, giving attendees the opportunity to feel inspired to develop, grow and chase goals.
The event was a huge success and we are thrilled with how it turned out.
